About Us

Lauren Barnes

Lead Vocalist

I was born in Surrey, raised by Geordies, and grew up in France — quite the mix, much like my taste in music!

Coming from a musical family, I've been surrounded by a huge variety of genres, which has shaped my diverse taste and love for exploring new music.

I started singing and writing songs when I was seven, and by my teens I was attending summer music schools and even set up an after-school music club and band during sixth form.

I went on to study at Newcastle University, where I graduated with First Class Honours in Combined Honours in Music with French, specialising in Jazz and Neo-soul, while also continuing my passion for languages.

Alex Walters

Keyboardist and Guitarist

Born and raised in Newcastle, I have been immersed in music from an early age, beginning with baby music classes at just nine months old. By the age of six I was already performing in bands, and since then I have built a wide-ranging experience as both a performer and collaborator.

I have been a member of auditioned national ensembles, led my own bands, and worked within recital groups at university, giving me the opportunity to perform on stages across the UK and internationally.

I studied Folk and Traditional Music at Newcastle University, where I had the opportunity to play other styles, and a love for RnB and Neo-soul was born. Now I perform with multiple bands of various genres as well as working as a sound engineer.

Louis Tyson

Bassist and Backing Vocalist

I was surrounded by music from a young age - everyone in my family played an instrument. It took lockdown-induced boredom for me to finally pick one up myself.

I gravitated towards the bass guitar thanks to my dad. When a song is playing he's always singing its bassline or a harmony part. During Covid, I had a lot of fun recording full arrangements of covers and originals with the equipment we had.

At Newcastle University, I left my Computer Science course after just a year to pursue music instead. In my new modules, I performed and recorded with like-minded people and decided it was what I wanted to do for a living.

I now teach at Yamaha Music School in the afternoons, giving me ample time to work other projects in performance, writing and recording.

Oli Needham

Drummer and Backing Vocalist

I have always had a deep love for music, being involved in many bands of differing genres over the years.

I have been playing drums for a decade now, and have had the privilege of playing alongside some great musicians.

I love writing, recording, and performing music of all kinds and this led me to study Contemporary and Popular Music at Newcastle University.
